The closure of the DWP office at City Hall, Lincoln, is more than just a local issue—it’s a warning sign for public service workers across the UK. If this closure goes ahead, 128 dedicated staff—many of them low-paid, carers, disabled, or single parents—face redundancy, or will be displaced, with no guarantee of suitable redeployment. This decision sets a dangerous precedent for how government departments treat their workforce and local communities.
That’s why it’s vital that PCS members everywhere take a few minutes to write to their MP. By raising this issue in Parliament, we can push for a fairer, more compassionate approach that protects jobs, supports communities, and values the work we do.
